This sequel seems to go a bit deeper into gameplay that focuses more on action than pure horror. There is apparently no real shortage of significant tales to pull from, which is probably why a sequel, DreadOut 2, was a no-brainer for developer Digital Happiness. In the original, players were tasked with solving a variety of puzzles while protecting themselves from ghostly entities by photographing them with either a smartphone or a digital camera that they find through the course of playing.ĭreadOut leaned heavily on tales and ghosts born from various Indonesian myths. The game, released only on PC for Windows, Mac, and Linux, came across as a modern spin on the Fatal Frame formula. The original DreadOut was a real "love it" or "hate it" sort of horror title.
